ASE Certified Technicians:
ASE certifies our techs. ASE stands for Automotive Service Excellence. ASE Technicians must have minimum experience levels as well as take comprehensive tests on the specialty they are trying to qualify for. There are 8 basic categories covering all systems in vehicles.
In recent years, more specialized categories have been added, most notably is the Advanced Level Specialist. This category means that a technician can tackle the most complicated diagnostic routines and electronics repairs.
The changes in cars and trucks just in emissions controls is amazing. However, the biggest advances, in my opinion, are in the creature comforts. Heated seats, one touch controls for windows, and even cars that park themselves. In the past, automotive techs generally didn't recommend their customers buy all that "electronic junk" because it would simply fail on them down the road and cause problems.
How we wish for the days of simple cars! However, in truth, the electronic goodies on today's cars are amazingly durable. The only thing they have not gotten down pat is sunroofs. I think they all leak when it rains. The only way today's techs can hope to keep up with troubleshooting the complicated systems on today's vehicles is with ongoing training and the latest tools and equipment. Without them, they're just guessing by replacing parts at your expense. My best example of that is hybrid training. My techs have been to around 6 classes each. Yet, they never see the same other techs more than once. Our guess is that many people simply think that hybrids are no big deal. They are a big deal. Besides being the best "green" vehicle on the road, they hold the potential to really hurt the careless tech. They also have the potential to cost lots of money if people don't know proper service procedures. We are well prepared to diagnose and repair anything on hybrids safely and effectively.
