Greg's Automotive Helix

Shop History:

In February of 2007, Greg and Sheri Kelly re-opened Helix Auto Care at the corner of Fuerte and Avocado Blvd. The business had been closed for a few months while the bankers played havoc with us. Finally, the County of San Diego gave the property it's final clearance for a fuel spill from years before.

It had been a gas station since the late 40's.

In the sping of 2010 Greg and Sherri had the shop's exterior remodeled and changed the name to Greg's Automotive Helix

Greg started Greg's Automotive in El Cajon, CA in June of 1979, so we are not new to the car repair industry.

All in all, we have 4 lift stalls in back, 2 lifts in the building and 3 "flat" or open stalls. At the present, we do all types of maintenance and repairs on most vehicles. We are gearing up to be a more complete shop again, doing alignments and heavier repairs. The business philosophy of the previous owner and us is much the same: fair and honest repairs at reasonable cost. We have only complete techs that can repair or replace as well as diagnose most problems.

In 1991, the fuel tanks were pulled out of the ground. By this time the previous owner had purchased the property and the leaking tanks left him with a large bill to clean it all up. The County of San Diego made a test case out of him, costing him countless hours and dollars dealing with what then was a fledgling Health Department Underground Tank Department.

The cleanup was only officially declared finished and complete in February of 2007! That is when Greg and Sheri Kelly were able to close escrow and restart the business, it having closed in November, 2006.

The old pictures you see at the tops of many of our web pages are actual historical pictures of the corner of Fuerte and Avocado, which is, of course, where Helix Auto Care now Greg's Automotive Helix is located.
